Question 162873: I'm not sure where to start with this proof i'll show you what I have so far but i am not so sure it is correct. There is also a picture/diagram that goes along with the proof, i will do my best to try and explain it.
Given: Segment AC is perpendicular to segment BC; Angle 3 is complementary to angle 1
Prove: Angle 3 is congruent to Angle 2
Diagram: Scalene triangle separated by a vertical segment CD, with verticies labled A (bottom left corner) C (top corner) B (bottom right corner), the segnment CD forms two right angles angle CDA and angle CDB. There are also numbers measuring three angles in the triangle number 3 being the measure of angle CAD, number 1 being the measure of andgle ACD and number 2 being the measure of angle DCB, all three angles are acute. Sorry i am not sure how much help that describtion is i wish i could draw a picture but im not sure how. I know there are about 8-10 steps and so far i have this:

the measure of angle 3 + the
measure of angle 1 = 90 : Definition of Complementary?
AC is perpendicular to BC : Given
Angle ACB is a right angle : ?
thats all i have so far and im not sure whats right and what isnt, i hope i explained everything well enough...thank you so much for your time

Good effort. From your description, if AC is perpendicular to BC, then yes it does form a right angle.
