I will write 2/3x as 2x/3, which is the same thing.
Statement............................... Reason
2(3x-8)= (2x/3) + 16.....................Given
6x - 16 = (2x/3) + 16....................Distributive Property
18x - 48 = 2x + 96.......................Multiplying Both Sides by 3
18x = 2x + 96............................Addition Property of Equality
16x = 96................................Subtraction Porperty of Equality
x = 6...................................Division Property of Equality
