To prove that x=3, there are a couple of ways to do it.
The way shown below solves the equation for x. But you could also
substitute 3 for x in the equation and see if the equality holds
true. But I like this method better:
Distribute the multiplication by 5 on the left side of the equation:
Add 40 to both sides of the equation:
Divide each side of the equation by 5 to solve for x:
