Question 50604: I have a pattern problem that I just cannot figure out. It is an in/out pattern box. I must find a rule/formula that will fit each value in the boxes.
It apears as though -4 must be used in the formula. Here are the #s in the IN box 3, -5, 1/3, 0, 7, -2. The #s in the out box are 5, 21, -3 8/9, -4, 45, 0.
I assume I must come up w/ some multiplier ???? time my number in the in box eqauls my number in the out box. I have worked on this problem for two days and cannot find a number (s) that will work. Thanks for any assistance rendered.

Question 51259: State the domain and range of f^-1 (x) given
a) f(x)= x+3
This is what I have tried so far:) I found the inverse of the question I think this is right.
y=x+3
x=y+3
x-y=3
-y=3-x
y=x-3
f^-1(x) = x-3 now I know I have to find the domain and range of f^1(x) =x-3 but I am extremely confused on how to do this I know x value is domain and y is range. Can you please help me find the correct answer.

Question 51260: State the domain and range of f^-1 (x), given
f(x)=(x-1)^2 +2 ** Please note their should be brackets around x-1 part** I'm not sure if the brackets will show up for you.
This is what I have tried so far. I tried to find the inverse I am not sure if i am right.
f(x)= (x-1)^2+2
y=(x-1)^2+2
(y-1)^2=x-2
y-1= +/- Square root x-2
y= +/- square root x-2+1
f^-1 (x) = +/- square root x-2+1
Now I think I have to find the domain and range of this f^-1 (x) = +/- square root x-2+1. I am not sure how to do this. Can you please check my work and see if it is ok so far and help me find the domain and range and if I have made a mistake can you help me correct it. Thank-you so much.
