Question 389553: Hello.... I have a seemingly straight forward function problem, however the solution provided is unclear to me. Given F[X] = 1/x-1 [square root of].find f[x]-f[2] over x-2. My solution is [1/x-1[sq.rt]-1]over x-2

Question 389654: This involves solving an equation by factoring:
If g(x) = 4x - 17 and f(x) = 2x^2 + x + 1
What is 2f(-4) * g(6)?
Here is my work: f(-4) = 2 (-4)^2 + -4 + 1 = 29
f(-4) = 2 (-4)^2 + -4 + 1 = 29
= 2 * 29 = 58

g(6) = 4(6) - 17 = 7
58 * 7 = 406 [My answer is 406.]
I did this work all by myself. I simply need someone to check my work and my answer. I am unsure whether I did this correctly.

Question 389762: I am having trouble solving by factoring. Here is the problem, my work and my solution. I need help in checking my work.
If f(x) = x - 6 and g(x) = x^2 + 1, then what is g(f(x))?
My work and answer:
f(x) = x - 6
g(x - 6) = (x - 6)^2 + 1
= x^2 + 36 + 1
= x^2 + 37 [this is my answer, but I am not sure if this is correct.]
Thanks for any help you can provide, and I need a sounding board and a check.
