Question 98347: state the domain of the following:
m(x) = 5 / (x^2 + 9)
I know that the domain will be all x where the denominator does not equal zero, but when I set the denominator to zero, I get stuck:
x^2 + 9 = 0
x^2 = -9
x = sqr root -9 ----> you can't take the squareroot of a negative number, so I'm stuck.
Please help.

Question 99526: This problem is not from a book. I've solved every other problem on my worksheet but cannot seem to get this one. Please help!!!
Given f(x) = 12x^2 - 53x +55, solve f(x)"< or=" 0.
Express your answer using interval notation. If you need to use -infinity, type -INFINITY. If you need to use positive infinity, type INFINITY. Use fractions as needed.
Please note: I didn't know how to type "less than or equal" in this kind of message, so I put "< or=."
Thanks!

Question 101203: f(x) = 2x -1
g(x) = Square root (x-1)
Find the domain of f, g, f+g, f-g, fg, ff, f/g, and g/f.
I actually got the answers to the domain of f and g, but i'm confused on how to find the others based on just f and g.
Like for the domain of f, I got (-infinity, positive infinity)
then for the domain of g, (negative infinity, 1) U (1, positive infinity)
