Question 59515: S. Bones is the doctor in Deathly, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. One day, John Garfinkle comes in with a high fever. Dr. Bones takes a blood sample and finds that it contains 1300 flu viruses per cubic millimeter and is increasing. John immediately gets a shot pf penicillin. The virus count should continue to increase for a while, then (hopefully!) level off and go back down. After 5 minutes the virus count is up to 1875, and after 5 more minutes, it is 2400. Assume the virus count varies quadratically with the number of minutes since the shot.
Find the equation expressing the number of viruses per cubic millimeter in terms of the number of minutes since the shot. Be sure to define your variables, set up a system of equations and use matrices to solve. Show all steps.

Question 61245: Please, Please, PLEASE I REALLY need help on these 2 problems.
f(x)=2x^3+7x^2+x+3, use the rational zeros theorem to find and list all the possible values of p/q.
Given the equation P(x)=2x^3+7x^2+x+3 how many variations of sign are there, in the sense of Descartes' rule of signs? What is the number of positive real zeros of P(x)?
If anyone has the time and feels like helping, thanks in advance.

Question 61368: I want to make sure i am doing this correctly... Question is: Determine ALL REAL ZEROS (and multiplicities for them) for the following polynomial functions.
f(x)=x^4-6x^3+13x^2-24x+36
I went to the tutor here at school, and it seemed like the kid did not know what the correct answer would be... I have..

Question 61502: How do I find f(0), f(3) and f(-5) for the following functions:
a) f(x) = 7 – 2x
b) f(x) = x2 + x
I first substituted each number for x in question a I got :
when x is 0, y = 3.5
when x is 3, y = 2
when x is 5, y = 1
Question b was more hard for me but i stuck it through and these are my answers:
when x is 0, y = 0
when x is 3, y = 1.307
when x is 5, y = 1.781
I am NOT sure of these answers...Please help!!

Question 61629: Voter turnout in the preceding 10 years can be modeled by the function N(t) = 12432 + 11t - t2 where N is the number of voters and t is measured in years. What was the rate of change in the number of voters for year 8?
Find the average rate of change for f(x) = 2x - x3 from x = 3 to x = 8. (2 decimal places)
