therefore we have
8x-2 / 8x = 2/1
cross multiply fractions
8x-2 = 16x
subtract 16x from both sides of =, then add 2 to both sides of =
-8x = 2
x = -2/8 = -1/4
divide both sides of = by -8
now check our answer
(8*(-1/4) -2) / (8*(-1/4)) = 2
-4 / -2 = 2
2 = 2
our answer checks
