If y varies directly as x, what is the value of y in these ordered pairs?
(5,8) and (10,y)
------------
Varies directly means y = k*x
8 = k*5
k = 1.6
---
y = 1.6*10 --> y = 16
=====================
Or,
5/8 = 10/y
5y = 80
y = 16
