Question 825909: 1-x^2/2 and 2b-2/2b^2-8
these are the problems that I am trying to solve. domains of rational expressions. I have just started this intermediate algebra class and this was NOT in the intro to algebra class I had and I am completely lost. I would appreciate work shown so maybe I would be able to better understand these problems. thank you to whoever decides to answer my question.

1-x^2/2 and 2b-2/2b^2-8
domains of rational expressions.
Domain of 1-x^2/2 is "All Real Numbers" because the fraction
accepts all possible value for "x".
--------------------------------------
Domain of (2b-2)/(2b^2-8) ??
Factor to get:
[2(b-1)]/[2(b-2)(b+2)]
-----
b cannot have the values b = 2 and b = -2
So the Domain is "All Real Numbers except b = 2 and b = -2".
============
Comment: The Domain for rational expressions is "All Real Numbers"
UNLESS it has :
1. a denominator with variables
2. even roots of an expression with variables
3. log or ln expressions with a variable
---
Check these out to determine the Domain
