Answer by TimothyLamb(4379) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = 4x^(3/5) - x^(8/5)
f(x) = 4(x^3)^(1/5) - (x^8)^(1/5)
---
the (x^3)^(1/5) term is a radical whose argument can be a negative number, for example if x=-2, then (-2^3)^(1/5) is a complex number
---
if you want f(x) to be a real-valued function, limit your domain to x >= 0
---
if you want f(x) to be a complex-valued function, your domain can be all real x
