Since the denominator cannot equal zero, we must look for values that make this true

Set each factor equal to zero
4x%2B5=0
4x=-5 Subtract 5 from both sides
x=-5%2F4 Divide both sides by 4
Set x+1 equal to zero
x%2B1=0
x=-1 Subtract 1 from both sides
