Question 773594: How do you determine the domain of f(x)=(x-1)(x+4) ? Thank you!
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do you determine the domain of f(x)=(x-1)(x+4) ?
-------
You start by assuming the domain is "All Real Numbers".
---
Then you look for elements in the Rule that restrict values of "x", such as:
1. even root symbols:: sqrt(x) or sqrt(x-7) or 4th root of(x) etc.
----
2. log(x) or ln(x-3) elements that have restricted domains
----
3. factors in the denominator that cannot be zero
----
4. There are others but 1,2,3 are the common restrictors.
===============================================================
Your problem has none of these restrictors so the domain is "All Real Numbers".
