Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. Find the average rate of change of
f(x)=x^3-9x+9:
a) from -8 to -2
ave rate = [f(-2)-f(-8)]/[-2-(-8)]
f(-2) = -8+18+9 = 19
f(-8) = -64+72+9 = 17
f(-2)-f(-8) = 2
------------
ave rate = 2/6 = 1/3
----
Use the same procedure to find answers for b, and c.

Stan H.
