En primer lugar, encontramos f(5) sustituyendo 2 para x en:

f(x + 3) = x²-4
f(2 + 3) = 2²-4
    f(5) = 4-4
    f(5) = 0

Luego f(f(5)) = f(0)

Entonces encontramos f(0) sustituyendo -3 para x en:

 f(x + 3) = x²-4
f(-3 + 3) = (-3)² - 4
     f(0) = 9-4
     f(0) = 5

Por lo tanto f(f(5)) = f(0) = 5
