A function is a relation, but a relation isn't necessarily a function. A good way to test to see if something is a function is by using the vertical line test. If any place you draw a vertical line on the graph of a relation, it can only pass through one point. Basically whatever I plug into the equation can only have one output.
Ex: if (1,2) and (1,3) are points you would know this has to be a relation because when 1 is plugged in for x, you get two answers.
Simply using this knowledge create a table where you plug in the same value for x, but get two answers. An example of this could be how age compares to height. For example if bob is 10 and is 50 inches tall, and mike is also 10 but is 52 inches tall this would be relation because when you plug in 10 you get two answers.
