Question 664231: 1/5x+1/2=-3
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Starting with
1/5x + 1/2 = -3
Isolate x
1/5x = -3 - 1/2
Multiply both sides by 5
x = -15 - 5/2
Create common denominator
x = -15(2/2) - 5/2
x = -30/2 - 5/2
Subtract
x = -35/2
x = 17 1/2
...
Check
1/5(-35/2) + 1/2 =
-7/2 + 1/2 = -6/2 = -3
