Let the function of f be defined by the equation y = f(x), where x and f(x) are real numbers. Find the domain of each function.
f%28x%29=%28x%2B2%29%2F%28x-1%29
Domain is what x is allowed to be. Rational functions like this one, have a restriction on x. x cannot be anything that will cause the denominator to =0, it can be any other real number.
x-1=0
x-1+1=0+1
x=1
The domain includes all real numbers except x=1.
Set builder notation {x|x cannot=1}
Interval notation (-infinity,1)U(1,infinity)
