Question 62062: I need help solving this word problem,
The distance r to a star is measured in parsecs, but astronomers like to use the Distance Modulus M given by the formula M= 5log r-5. If a star is 52 parsecs away, what is its distance modulus?

The distance r to a star is measured in parsecs, but astronomers like to use the Distance Modulus M given by the formula M= 5log r-5. If a star is 52 parsecs away, what is its distance modulus?
------------
M= 5log r-5
M+5 = 5log(52)
M+5= 5(1.716...)
M+5=8.58
M=3.58
