Given y = 2x^2 – 8x (1)
To find the “y” intercepts, we substitute for x = 0 in equation (1), we get
y = 0
The y intercepts is y = 0.
To find the “x” intercepts, we substitute for y = 0 in equation (1), we get
2x^2 – 8x = 0
2x^2 = 8x
Divide the above equation by 2x, we get
x = 4

The “x” intercepts is x = 4.
Hence the y intercepts is 0 and the x intercepts is 4.

y=2x^2-8x. Find the y-intercepts and any x-intercepts.
To find the y-intercept, let x=0 and solve for y.

The y-intercept is (0,0) This is where the graph would cross the y-axis.
:
To find the x intercepts, let y=0 and solve for x.
Factor the GCF, 2x out.
0=2x(x-4)
2x=0 and x-4=0
2x/2=0/2 and x-4+4=0+4
x=0 and x=4
The x-intercepts are (0,0) and (4,0)
Notice that the origin (0,0) is both an x-intercept and a y-intercept.
Here's what the graph looks like:
