Question 60606: r+6/5 = r+8/7
Answer by praseena(37)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

(r + 6)/5 = ( r + 8 ) /7

now multiply both sides of the equation by the lowest common multiple of 5 and 7
that is,
35 * (r + 6)/5 = 35 * ( r + 8 )/7
7 * (r + 6 ) = 5* (r+8)
now remove the brackets by multiplying the terms out side the brackets.
7 * r + 7 * 6 = 5 * r + 5* 8
7r + 42 = 5r + 40

now bring the like terms together.
7r - 5r = 40 - 42
==> 2r = -2
now divide both sides of the equation by 2
==> r = -2/2
==> r = -1

Bye !!!!!!!!
