I wrote down (x+4)^2 which equals x^2+16 just to have an answer. I'd rather have an example problem like this one so I could learn from that instead of just having a correct answer. Thank you!

f(x)=x+4
find (f(x))^2
[f(x)]^2=(x+4)^2
=(x+4)(x+4)
Use the FOIL method to get the product, as follows:
F: x*x=x^2
O: x*4=4x
I: 4*x=4x
L: 4*4=16
Addthe results to get:
x^2+8x+16

What if f(x)=x+5
Find %28f%28x%29%29%5E2
=%28x%2B5%29%5E2 does not =x%5E2%2B25, observe:
=%28x%2B5%29%28x%2B5%29
=x%28x%2B5%29%2B5%28x%2B5%29
=x%28x%29%2Bx%285%29%2B5%28x%29%2B5%285%29
=x%5E2%2B5x%2B5x%2B25
=x%5E2%2B10x%2B25
You are missing your middle term, because you didn't FOIL.
