3X-7=2X+8 OR 3X-2X=8+7 OR X=15
PROOF 3*15-7=2*15+8 OR 45-7=30+8 OR 38=38

Answer by tutorcecilia(2152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x - 7 = 2x + 8 [Move all of the variables to one side of the equation]
3x - 7 + 7 = 2x + 8 + 7 [Add 7 to both sides]
3x = 2x + 15
3x - 2x = 2x - 2x + 15
x = 15
Check by plugging in (x-15) back into the equation.
3(15) - 7 = 2(15) + 8
38 = 38 [Checks out]
