Question 48547: I have a table that has the following values for x, f(x) & g(x):
x ---| 1,2,3,4,5
f(x)-| 5,3,5,1,2
g(x)-| 4,5,1,3,2
From the information a from the the table above, providing values for f(x) and g(x) evaluate (fog)^-1(3)
the choices I have are:
a. 1
b. 2
c. 4
d. 5
Thank you very much for you help in advance.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x ---| 1,2,3,4,5
f(x)-| 5,3,5,1,2
g(x)-| 4,5,1,3,2
From the information a from the the table above, providing values for f(x) and g(x) evaluate (fog)^-1(3)
The inverse of (f(g)x) is g^-1 [f^-1(x)]
So, g^-1 [f^-1(3)]= g^-1(2)=5

Comment: It doesn't affect the answer to this problem but shouldn't one
of the "5's" on the f(x) line be a "4".
Cheers,
Stan H.
