Question 4783: Bob sold hammers and wrenches at a flea market. He sold 4 times as many hammers as wrenches. The total sales equaled $609.00. If the hammers sold for $3.00 apiece and the wrenches for $2.50 each how many hammers and wrenches did he sell?
Answer by wildcat1cheer(2) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
wrenches sold $/wrench Total $
Wrenches x $2.50 2.50x
Hammers 4x $3.00 (4x)3.00
Total ? -- $609.00
2.50x+(4x)3.00=609.00
2.50x+12x=609.00
14.50x=609.00
14.50x/14.50 609/14.50
x=42
4x=168
