Question 413823: Given the function f(t) = |t| -5
f(-87)=
f(5)=
f(2/3)=
f(-4)=
It's the absolute value of t followed by a negative number that is throwing me.
I got -92,0, -4 1/3, -9 for my answers, but I'm not sure if I did this right. Can you please help.
Thank you!!

You took the negative of the absolute value for the first and fourth problems. Instead,

f(-87) = |-87| - 5. The absolute value of -87 is 87, so f(-87) = 87 - 5 = 82. Similarly, f(-4) = |-4| - 5 = -1.
