Question 316526: c(p) = 3p + 24
When a certain caterer expects people to attend a reception,
he uses the formula above to determine , the number of cookies to bake.
If the caterer bakes cookies for a reception, then according to the formula,
how many people does he expect to attend?
I keep getting 72 but the answer is 83 and I'm lost as to how that was deciphered.
Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have the equation for cookies based on the number of people.
In order to get the number of people, you need to know the number of cookies and conversely if you want to get the number of cookies, you need to know the number of people.
Unfortunately, you only have the equation.
The value of the number of cookies was cut off.
There is no way to determine without that other piece of information.
Please re-post.
