Question 284: The regular price of a pair of jeans is x dollars. Let f(x) = x - 5 and g(x) = 0.6x. Find (f o g)(x) and describe what this models in terms of the price of jeans.

This is a question about composite functions.
(f o g)(x) can be re written as:
f(g(x)), which means you take the expression g(x) and place the entire g(x) as the variable in f(x).
(f o g)(x)= f(g(x))= .6x -5
if x is the price of jeans it seems as if the price of jeans is being multiplied by .6 or 60% and then 5 units or in this case dollars are being taken away...
this can be expressed as " 5 dollars off of 60% of the jeans"
