Question 28390: The $75 cost for a party was to be shared equally by all those attending. Since five more people attended than what was expected, the price per person dropped $0.50. How many people attended the party?
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Eqation:
75[(x+5)-(x)=0.5[(x)(x+5)]
Use quadratic formula:
a= 0.5 b = 2.5, c = -375
Simplfy x = -30 and x= 25
Remvoe the negative x = 25
Hence, about 25 people attendented the party.
