f(-x) = 3(-x)^4
f(-x) = 3x^4
This is an "even" function
(notice it did not change the sign of the function. It stayed positive.)

f(-x)=7(-x)^3
f(-x)=-7x^3
This is an "odd" function
(notice it changed to the opposite sign from positive to negative)
