In a function, every x maps to one and one only value of y.
You are given two points. The y coordinate of one point is 4 and the other is 7. If the same value for x maps to both 4 and 7, then the relationships is NOT a function.
So 5k+3 must not equal 3k-5. If those two things are equal, then no function.
