Answer by rapaljer(4671)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Do you mean ?

If so, then write it this way: .

Denominators must NEVER equal zero! In this case, must NOT equal zero!, so x cannot equal 1 or -1.

Domaim: all values of x except 1 and -1.

For a "non-traditional" explanation of Domain and Range, please see my website. Do a "Bing" search for my last name "Rapalje". Look for "Rapalje Homepage" near the top of this search list. On my Homepage, click on the link "Rapalje Videos", and choose either Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra (two different videos at different levels of explanation!), and look for "Functions, Domain, and Range".

For a written explanation, return to my homepage, choose "MATH IN LIVING COLOR", "College Algebra", "Chapter 2", "Functions, Domain, and Range." or send me an Email, and I'll be glad to send you the link.
