Question 20574: What does it mean to make y a function of X. For example y=x-3. This is one of my problems. So far this is what I came up with. y=x-3 I added 3 to both sides of the equation. Then I got the answer y+3=x and I wanted to know weather or not I changed y into a function of x.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hello There:
To make y a function of x, you need to have y all by itself on one side of the equals sign and then an expression containing x on the other side.
So, your example of y = x - 3 is already in the correct form.
