Question 204213: Can you please help me on this question: 1)State whether the relation is a function and give the domain and range.
a) x=y^2+6

Answer by RAY100(1637)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x-6) = y^2
.
a rough sketch shows this to be an x parabola. opening to right, with vertex at (6,0)
.
This is a relation,,but not a function. For each value of x, there is a +/- value of y, and it would fail the vertical line test.
.
Domain is,,,,[6,infinity),,,that is 6<=x .
Range is,,,,(- infinity,+infinity),,,that is -infinity
