The slope, m, of a line containing two points
and
is given by:
Just plug in your coordinates and do the arithmetic. If the denominator happens to come out to zero, then the slope does not exist (rather, the slope is undefined) otherwise the slope is the result of your calculation.

Find the slope, if it exists, of the line containing the pair points.
(4,9) and (10,-6)
--------------------
slope = (9--6)/(4-10) = 15/-6 = 5/-2 = -5/2
