Question 172052: hello, I'm having problems with this math problem, your help would be very appreciated. Here it is...
The relationship between the selling price of a sleeping bag, s dollars, and the revenue at that selling price, r(s) dollars, is represented by the function r(s)=-10s^2 + 1500s. Evaluate, interpret, and compare r(29.95), r(60.00), r(75.00), r(90.00), and r(130.00).
Do I have to go through each one and substitute into the equation like so...r(29.95) = -10(29.95)^2 + 1500(29.95), solve, and compare ?

That's exactly what you need to do.

What you are going to see is that if the sell price is small, you might sell a great many of the items, but your total revenue (price * number sold) will still be relatively small, whereas if you make the price very high, you will sell a great many less, and your revenue will again be relatively small. There is a price point, however, that maximizes the revenue. As you might suspect, one of the values you are asked to evaluate is, for this particular revenue as a function of price function, that price value that gives you the maximum revenue.
