Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
By "convert it to all numbers" I presume you mean "convert it to all integers" and this is always a good idea with equations.
(1/4)x + y = 2 1/2 Convert the mixed number (2 1/2) to an improper fraction (5/2) and the multiply through by the LCD of 4.
4(1/4)x + 4y = 4(5/2) Simplify
x + 4y = 10
