Question 145532: i need to find the x-intercept, y-intercept, axis of symmetry, and vertex of these two problems and don't know how to find any of those
1. f(x)=x^2-6x+8
2. f(x)=-x^2+10x-16

x^2-6x+8=y
x^2-6x+8=0 when y=0 you have the x intercepts.
(x-4)(x-2)=0
x=4, x=2 the x intercepts

x^2-6x+8=y
y=8 when x=0 The y intercept.

The axis of symmetry is a vertical line 1/2 way between the x intercepts.
x=3 This is also the x-coordinate of the vertex.

The y coordinate of the vertex is -(b^2-4ac)/4a=-(36-(4*1*8))/(4*1)=-(36-32)/4=-4/4=-1
