Question 137469: I have tried solving this question myself without out a book or notes and cannot complete any of the answers, I am looking for an example to follow from and cannot find one so i am hoping this will help. The question is find the domain of the function such as y=the square root of 7x-2. as far as I can tell the problem should come out to be 0 is less than or equal to X which is less than or equal to 2/7.

The question is find the domain of the function such as y=the square root of 7x-2.

y = sqrt%287x+-+2%29
:
You know that you cannot have a negative inside the square root:
You can have 0, however, then y = 0
:
7x - 2 = 0
7x = 2
x = 2/7, which is what you had
therefore the value of x has to be equal or greater than 2/7
:
Domain: x => 2/7
:

you can see the domain: all real numbers => 2/7; note there are no values less than 2/7
