What is the domain of the following equation? 3x-7y=13
with one of these solutions:
1. Set of real numbers
2. 7/3
3. All positive real numbers or
4. No real numbers

Because this is a straight line, and not a vertical line, the domain is all real values. This is because IF you solved for y, you would get a formula for y in which any value of x would be allowed. There are no restrictions on the values of x.

Another thought, if you picture the graph of any straight line (non-vertical, that is!), the graph reaches all the way to the left and all the way to the right, with no breaks in the line.

Therefore all values of x are allowed.

The correct answer is 1. Set of real numbers!
