For a, all we have to do is plug in zero for all values of x.

- 2(0) +1

So a is 1.

For b, we just have to set the equatin equal to zero and solve.

- 2x + 1 = 0

In order to solve for the values of x, we must factor.

{x - 1)(x - 1) = 0

So for b, x = 1
