Question 121244: I have done this problem over and over and am not getting the right answer can you help please? The problem is:
Freeport McMoRan projects that in 2010 world grain supply will be 1.8 trillion metric tons and the supply will be only three-fourths of world grain demand what will world grain demand be in 2010?
Thanks so much for your help

Answer by BrittanyM(80)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We can set this up to find the projected need:

1.8 trillion = 0.75x

Where 0.75 is the three quaters of grain needed, and x is the total amount needed.

Dividing 1.8 by 0.75, we have

x = 2.4 trillion metric tons.
