Horizontal compression: multiply the function's input value by to obtain horizontal compression by a factor of , i.e.,

Vertical stretch: multiply the entire function by to vertically stretch the function by a factor of , i.e.,

Reflection in -axis:

.

Such formulation "Horizontal compression by the factor of 1/5" is not used in Math and does not work.

The term "horizontal compression of the plot" is used with the factor greater or equal to 1, ONLY.
