The average is the change in y (or f(x)) divided by the change in x:

Hello,  the correct term for it is  " average rate of change ".

Your term  " average rate of speed "  is  INCORRECT.

      Such collection of words is   NEVER   USED.


Be careful with terminology : when you use it incorrectly (even one incorrect term), it just says a lot about you . . .
