A slope of 1/2 means that for every two units you go to the right horizontally, the graphed line
goes up 1 unit vertically.
.
A slope of 2 means that for every unit you go to the right horizontally, the graphed line
goes up 2 units vertically.
.
A slope of -2 means that for every unit you go to the right horizontally, the graphed line
goes down two units vertically.
.
And finally:
.
A slope of -1/2 means that for every two units you go to the right horizontally, the graphed line
goes down 1 unit vertically.
.
The following graph illustrates these four graphed slopes:
.

.
The brownish-red graph has a slope of 1/2. The green graph has a slope of 2. The dark blue
graph has a slope of -2, and the purple graph has a slope of -1/2.
.
Hope this helps you understand the concept of slope.
