Question 1156178: please help me with this related rate problem.
Boyle's Law states that when a sample of gas is compressed at a constant temperature, the pressure P and volume V satisfy the equation PV = C, where C is a constant. Suppose that at a certain instant the volume is 700 cm3, the pressure is 100 kPa, and the pressure is increasing at a rate of 40 kPa/min. At what rate is the volume decreasing at this instant?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
PV=C
700*100=C units kPa-cm^3
Pdv/dt+Vdp/dt=0
100*dV/dT+700*40=0
100 kPa dv/dt=-28000 cm^3*kPa/min
dV/dt=-280 cm^3/min
