Question 1019898: Please show work
Consider the function
f(x)=(x^2-1)/(x-3)
a Find the domain for the function in interval notations
b Find all vertical, horizontal and slant asymptotes
c Sketch the function

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x)=(x^2-1)/(x-3)
Domain: all x except for x=3.
Vertical asymptote at x=3.
horizontal asymptote: None
Slant asymptote: divide x-3/x^2-1
----------------------------x
-----------------------------x^2-3x, change signs
------------------------------3x+1
------------------------------x goes into that 3 times with remainder. The line for the slant asymptote is y=x+3.
