Question 1000842: What is the equation of the curve y = x^3 after it is reflected in the x-axis?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To reflect into an axis, we replace the variable OTHER than
the variable of the axis we are reflecting in, by the negative
of that variable.

We wish to reflect the graph of y = x³

graph%28400%2C400%2C-8%2C8%2C-8%2C8%2Cx%5E3%29

into the x-axis. So we substitute the other letter y by its
negative, -y

-y = x³
 y = -x³

That's the green graph.

graph%28400%2C400%2C-8%2C8%2C-8%2C8%2Cx%5E3%2C-x%5E3%29

This happens to be one of those graphs such that the graph is
the same whether we reflect it in the x or the y axis.
