A consumer set out to compare prices on premiums of comparable insurance policies offered by three companies: Country Farm, Metma, and Wisely.
------
She found that Country Farm was $35 higher than Metma but $25 lower than Wisely.
------
Wisely was $155 less than the sum of the premiums of the other two.
------
Find the premium charged by each company.
--------
Equations:
CF = M + 35
CF = W - 25
W = CF + M - 155
------
Rearrange:
CF - M + 0 = 35
CF + 0 - W = -25
CF + M - W = 155
-----
I used the Matrix function on my TI-84 to get:
Country Farms = 215
Metma = 180
Wisely = 240
