Question 982965: There are x students in Mrs. Schwartz's third-grade class. One fewer than half the students have blue eyes. Six fewer children have green eyes than have blue eyes. The rest of the students have brown eyes. How many students have brown eyes?
For my answer I have gotten 8.
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
number of students with blue eyes = (x/2) - 1
number of students with green eyes = (x/2) - 1 - 6
(x/2) - 1 + (x/2) - 1 - 6 + b = x
x - 8 + b = x
b = 8
you are correct, there are 8 students with brown eyes
